I was a client of Michael Thompson at NBKC, and he helped me through the mortgage process for my first home purchase in 2014 in Sacramento, CA.

It only took only 9 days, from the opening of escrow to completion of loan docs (including the underwriting process). If I wanted to, I could have closed on day 10 due to Michael’s diligence. The quick turnaround was directly a result of him being communicative, prepared, anticipating possible issues and staying in contact with the many parties involved.

I initially had concerns about working with a lender in a different time zone and state (CA and KS). These concerns were proved unfounded. When choosing a mortgage provider, it was important to my husband and I to work with a professional who worked with many VA loan applicants and knew the ropes of this type of loan.

Being licensed in real estate myself, I know that it can be a tough sell to bring an offer to a seller with a preapproval/prequalification from a non-local bank. However, in order to ensure we were getting the most thorough service on our VA loan, we went with a bank in an area of the country where there is a greater saturation of military families and vets. Michael did exactly what he said he would do when he said he would do it. He is truly an expert in residential VA lending. My client went binding on his first home purchase on June 19 and closed and moved in on July 24th. That is almost unheard of with a VA loan.
